Brewery: Southern Tier Brewing Company, Lakewood, NY
Style: IPA
ABV: 6.5%
Date Poured: August 2009
Another selection from the Southern Tier mixed 12-pack I picked up in Maryland.
Pours a coppery gold with a wisp-thin ivory head. Citrusy hops in the nose, apricot with a hint of lemon, some herbal notes too.
Bitter herb in the mouth, orange rind, grapefruit and a piney quality from the hops. A honey-like sweetness imparted from the malt. Medium bodied, a sweetish finish and the lingering piney bitterness dominates the aftertaste. Well-balanced IPA, the bitter citrus from the hops and the honey from the malt blend nicely.

I've got this one queued up for review. Looking forward to checking out this lemon/apricot mix you mentioned!

Yeah, some of these reviews come out of a notebook weeks later...I didn't remember so much fruitiness in this one myself! Have to give it another try.
Will try it soon :)I drink lighter Pilsner beer in the spring summer and dark in the fall and winter. My favorite summer beer is Straub thanks for sharing this article I love your site will recommend my friends
Hey I am thinking of making the switch to all grain and saw on beer advocate that you did 2.5 gallon batches (which I am thinking of doing). Do you have any pointers? Any good recipes that you think I should try?
